The Institute of Urban
Transport has Regional Chapters in Mumbai, Hyderabad,
Bangalore, Chennai and Roorkee.
The objective for which regional Chapters have
been established are :
- To promote and coordinate
the state of art of Urban transport, including
planning, development, research and management
of urban transport in their region.
- To initiate, foster and maintain
investigation and research into the best means,
methods and appliances of urban transport and
the problems that are involved and their most
satisfactory solution.
- To extend, increase and disseminate
knowledge and exchange information and ideas
in regard to all matters connected with urban
transport and operate documentation centre and
disseminate information on urban transport .
- To organize lectures, seminars,
workshop, conference, etc. on subjects pertaining
to urban transport and to establish courses
of instructions in the state of art of urban
transport in conjunction or by co-operative
with Universities and colleges and other educational
institute in their region.
- To establish or acquire by
purchase, donation or otherwise a library and
collect material for the same and to maintain,
extend and improve the same.
- To aid and assist the institute
of purchase, lease, rent, hold, dispose and
to construct and manage any property for
and on behalf of IUT (I) and as per the specific
direction issued by the institute from time
to time in this regard for the use and benefit
of the urban transport professionals as well
as members of the Institute.
- To bring out periodicals or
compile, collect, print and publish statistics.
Professionals record, etc relating to urban
transport.
ACTIVITIES
Activities of Regional Chapters may be consist
of any or all of the following;
- Arranging lecture, talks,
conferences, seminar, exhibitions and other
planning activities in their respective regions.
For these activities, the Chapters may work
in collaboration with the sister professional
institute.
- Stimulating Urban Transport
activities in their area, participating in regional
conferences of interest to urban transport professionals
and general representative the Institute’s
interests in all matters relating to urban transport.
- Organizing teaching courses
and training Programme for the benefit of members
of the Institute.
- To co-ordinate and Co-operative
with activities supersede members of the Institute.
